I was recently attending a session for CSPs (Certified Speaking Professionals) at the annual convention for CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers), and we were passing the microphone around sharing how we were each faring in this economy. As is my inclination in this type of situation, I didn’t think about what to say, but rather just spoke what came up – and suprised myself.

While some spoke of the challenges of the year and of new strategies, I simply said that I had been given the opportunity to re-invent myself this year. Which I have. And it’s a perspective I’m happy to hear come out of my mouth.
Early this year I separated from my life and business partner, resulting in siginificant change in my life. That led to the refining of the brand for Chrysalis and the integration of my two blogs and website into this new integrated format.
So we have a choice in what happens. We can look at the ka-ka, or we can look at what the ka-ka allows us to do, and how it allows us to grow. Neither is wrong – they are both choices, and most of us usually choose both (at different times). I’m pleasantly surprised to discover that I’m looking at the opportunities that lie before me now. It’s time to move forward.
Perspective has such power, does it not?
